Martin Luther played a large part in the Protestant reformation in the 16th century. At the age of 20, he came across the Bible for the first time. Many years later he realized that salvation did not come through being fearful of God, but rather faith was the way. This belief was not taken well and made him a wanted man. He went into hiding and while being hidden by some of his friends he translated the entire New Testament into German, so the Bible could be read by a much larger population of people.
