Proclaiming Jesus – Luke 8

After Jesus delivered a man from demonic possession, He told the man, “Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him” (Luke 8:39).  That is our duty too…to proclaim Jesus and how much He’s done for us and to tell “the whole city!”

Don’t be Ashamed – 2 Timothy 1

Paul gave the young pastor Timothy some great advice, and advice that we should take to heart about sharing our testimony. Paul told him to “not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God” (2 Timothy 1:8). Even though it’s not easy, we should never be ashamed to share Christ and the Good News of the Gospel.

Acknowledging Jesus – Matthew 10

Most believers are living out the “great omission” rather than obeying the Great Commission, but that’s exactly what He commands us to do, saying that “everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32). We should feel compelled to share Jesus Christ with the lost, but those who are silent before others, has Jesus’ serious warning.  He says that “whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 10:33).

Gentleness and Respect –  1 Peter 3

We should be prepared to share Christ with anyone we meet, but we must do so in a kind, gentle way.  Peter says that “in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15).  No one was ever debated into heaven that I know of.  Love wins.  Be prepared to give an answer, but do so with “gentleness and respect.”

Use the Word – John 20

John closes his gospel with the very purpose for which he wrote it, saying, “these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:31). It takes the Spirit of God from a person of God with the Word of God to birth the children of God for the glory of God. In other words, God and His Word must be involved so that they “may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God.”
