Bible Verses about Nature

16
For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.

And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

Here are 5 Great Bible Stories about Nature

Glorifies God – Psalm 19

The world around us is so beautiful, and when we look into the heavens at night, even more so.  The psalmist knew this and wrote, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork” (Psalm 19:1).  The beauty of the world is God’s idea, and the whole creation gives Him glory…even if we don’t realize it.

His Wondrous Works – Psalm 145

I am truly amazed at the way the universe is organized.  The symmetry and orderly fashion of the universe shows that God is at work.   Scripture tells us that “On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate” (Psalm 145:5), and many astronomers have done so too.  No wonder more astronomers believe in God than any other branch of science. They see that the creation could not have come from an accident or blind chance.  It was clearly an Intelligent Designer.

The Heavens are Glad – Psalm 96

The psalmist wrote as if the heavens and earth rejoice at their Creator, writing, “Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; let the sea roar, and all that fills it; let the field exult, and everything in it! Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy” (Psalm 96:11-12). If “the heavens and earth rejoice at their Creator,” how much more so should we when we see the glory of God displayed in His creation?

Praise from the Creation – Psalm 69

He Who is the Creator is glorified by His creation, so “Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and everything that moves in them” (Psalm 69:34).  Why don’t we join with the creation in praising Him Who has created everything that moves and all that is in the sea?

He Who Made the Storm – Psalm 107

It makes sense that the One Who created the storm can command it to be still.  The Creator is always over that which He creates, and the psalmist knew this, so he wrote, “He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed” (Psalm 107:29).  They had no choice but to obey.

Calming the Storm – Mark 4

When the disciples were caught in a great storm, they began to panic, believing that they would drown, so they awoke Jesus “And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm” (Mark 4:39).  We would have probably done the same thing as “They were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him” (Mark 4:41)? Who is this?  It is the Lord our God, omnipotent.  He can calm the storms of our life too.

God has authority over all creation, so we can run to Him when things around us begin to frighten us; be they floods, tornadoes, hurricanes, or any other natural disaster.  When the natural world terrifies us…go to the Supernatural God Who alone can command the storms of life and they must obey.
