If you have no joy, there’s a leak in your Christianity somewhere.
For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.
Laughter is the closest thing to the grace of God.
Sometimes the joy which floods the soul overflows into the spirit, inducing the believer to think he is the happiest person in the world.
The happiness of the creature consists in rejoicing in God, by which also God is magnified and exalted.
A tear today is an investment in a laugh tomorrow.
Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.
A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed.
Laughter is the most beautiful and beneficial therapy God ever granted humanity.
It’s not how much we have, but how much we enjoy that makes happiness.
Laughter and tears are the warp and woof of life. If you leave them out of preaching, you are leaving out life itself.
Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
If you hope for happiness in the world, hope for it from God, and not from the world.
Hope fills the afflicted soul with such inward joy and consolation, that it can laugh while tears are in the eye, sigh and sing all in a breath; it is called “The rejoicing of hope.”
No man in the world should be so happy as a man of God. It is one continual source of gladness. He can look up and say, “God is my Father, Christ is my Saviour, and the Church is my mother.”
Happiness is neither without us nor within us. It is in God, both without us and within us.
I believe that the happiest of all Christians and the truest of Christians are those who never dare to doubt God, but take His Word simply as it stands, and believe it, and ask no questions, just feeling assured that if God has said it, it will be so.
Laugh till you weep. Weep till there’s nothing left but to laugh at your weeping. In the end it’s all one.
Jesus is in the happiness business.
Happiness without peace is temporal; peace along with happiness is eternal.
Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.”
