3 Things We Know About God’s Ability

“Be confident; God is able.”

God is for Us

Christians have to swim upstream against the culture and it can often be discouraging when those around us are irritated by their seeing us as going the wrong way. That’s the rub…we are not like the world so the world’s not going to love us, in fact Jesus said “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you” (John 15:18). Paul almost seems to be asking a rhetorical question about this very subject writing “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us” (Rom 8:31)? The obvious answer is no one.

The God of the Impossible

When we sometimes face impossible odds in life or when it seems that we’re in a hopeless situation, God loves to show Himself strong thereby glorifying His name. When facing the impossible by our self we can do nothing, but with God, we can say what Paul did, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13).

Being Fully Persuaded

Paul often faced seemingly insurmountable odds and suffering be he had confidence…not in himself but in God, being “fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised” (Rom 4:21). Even while sitting in prison awaiting his execution he writes to Timothy “I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him until the day of his return” (2 Tim 1:12).

Conclusion

God wants us to know that He is always there for us. When we face big problems, are God is bigger but even in the small things, He is not absent. Besides, to God everything is small no matter the size. Every one of us will have times in our lives that we don’t see a way out but we know that God is for us and for Him, nothing is too hard.
