Devotional: 5 Key Ways to Live in Immeasurable Abundance

The phrase “prosperity gospel” is making the rounds recently and it’s getting quite popular. There’re just so many ideas Christians and non-Christians have regarding what the prosperity gospel actually means.

It’s really helpful to focus on the quote by John F. Walvoord. The last sentence of this quote pretty much defines the prosperity gospel. Make no mistake about it, there is such a thing as prosperity gospel, but in most cases, it is not what many Christians assume it would be. The prosperity gospel is all about the prosperity God will unleash to people who ask to do his will. It cannot get any clearer than that. God is never stingy when it comes to helping people that are looking to further his will.

Here are five key ways you can tap that immeasurable godly abundance.

Ask to further God’s will

It’s easy to live this life being tossed back and forth by what you want and what you need. If you’ve been praying to God and you noticed that a lot of your prayers go unanswered, maybe it’s because you don’t ask for God’s will in your life.

To live in immeasurable abundance, put aside what you want and focus on what God wants. If you want God’s blessings to increase in your life, your selfish needs need to decrease.

Ask for help in spreading the gospel

God was very clear when he was on earth that we need to spread the good news to all people regardless of language, what they look like, or where they live. Ask for help in spreading the good word. God will readily answer your prayer if your request is in accordance to furthering the gospel.

Petition for the means to be a powerful witness

When you read the Bible, you notice that a lot of God messengers were quite blessed. Joseph was very wealthy. Abraham was very wealthy. For the most part, God never lets his witnesses go without. The reason for this is if you are going to be preaching the abundance of abiding in God, you would be a very lousy witness when you don’t even have food to eat and water to drink.

Petition God for the means to be a powerful witness by providing for your needs. Now, notice this is all about providing for your needs not your wants. Remember this distinction.

Pray for an untiring spirit

The reality about doing God’s will here on earth is that the earth is a very inhospitable place for the gospel. You will meet resistance every step of the way. That’s just how it goes.

Not surprisingly, if you ask for an untiring spirit because you are furthering God’s will, God will give it to you because God knows that you need a lot of power and a lot of energy to overcome the resistance and the objections that the world will put your way. In almost all cases, you will need a lot of God’s untiring spirit to overcome the temptations that the world will put in front of you to divert you from God’s path.

Pray for an unquenchable passion

Finally, if you are praying to further God’s will in your life, you have to remember that there are many days that you would feel burned out and feel doubtful. You may start to think if it’s all worth it. You have to anticipate these days because they will come sooner rather than later.

Pray for an unquenchable passion to be a witness to others, to let your life be an example of how God is so loving, so merciful, and so kind that regardless of how sinful people are, God is more than willing for his free grace to transform people’s lives. That’s a very powerful message and it’s a message that is needed now more than ever.

Unfortunately, there’s going to be a lot of resistance to that message, and it’s very easy to lose heart and drive. Pray for an unquenchable passion to keep pushing that message forward.
