Merry Christmas From ChristianQuotes.info

First King Sized Bed

Here are 7 great Bible verses that get to the real meaning of Christmas.

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Notice that it is “the Lord himself” who will give the sign, and this supernatural sign, meaning it could not come from human effort, was that a virgin will conceive for the first time and last time in human history.  Very fitting for He is God with us in Jesus Christ, namely Immanuel (means “God with us”).

Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born,
    to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

In the original Hebrew, there are no commas in this name for God.  He is all of these at one time.  Notice again that it was “to us a child is born” (Jesus) and this son was given (at Calvary).   God gave His one and only Son so that we might receive eternal life by belief in Him (John 3:16).  That is why He came into the world (Mark 10:45).

Micah 5:2 But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,
who are too little to be among the clans of Judah,
from you shall come forth for me
one who is to be ruler in Israel,
whose coming forth is from of old,
    from ancient days.

This prophecy points to a time and a place where the Savior of the world would become a man, and in the humblest of towns and the humblest of settings (lying in a feeding trough).  Out of such tiny, humble beginnings, will one come who will rule not only Israel, but all nations with a rod of iron.  He is the “ancient of days,” the Lord Jesus Christ.

Luke 1:35 And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy—the Son of God.

Luke the Beloved Physician is well qualified to state the unique birth of Jesus Christ.  It was the Holy Spirit Who overshadowed Mary and she conceived by the Spirit, meaning Jesus would not carry the sin-gene.  Or He would not have the sin nature or human nature as does all of mankind for man is born into (Psalm 51:5).  The Son of God alone, as Man and God, has no sin nature nor has ever sinned, making the Spotless Lamb of God, the perfect atonement for our sins.  A man cannot even die for his own sins and so must pay for them eternally in hell, but Jesus’ sacrifice, if we trust in Him, is sufficient for all sins and efficient to cleans us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).

Luke 2:7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

Most kings are born in palaces, but the greatest King of all…the King of kings, was born in a barn, basically.  A place where they kept the animals for they had no other place to stay and Mary was about to give birth.  Here is a case from the least to the greater…and what small beginnings these were for the Lord, but what an ending for the glory of God that is coming when every knee will bow and every single tongue created will confess (Phil 2:10-11). We do not wait for the day when every tongue will confess and every knee will bow.  We confess Him as Lord and bow our knee to Him in submission today and every day.  Believers should do this today and every day; publically confessing Him and willing bowing to Him.

Luke 2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Imagine how hard it must have been for the Jewish religious leaders to understand that the Savior, the Messiah, must first die and then rule.  They had expected the Messiah to remain forever, but there is no forgiveness of sin without the shedding of blood, and Jesus’ perfect, sinless life; His shed blood and death on the cross; and His resurrection on the third day, was exactly why He came into the world.

John 1:14  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

The Word becoming flesh clearly refers to Jesus Christ.  The Apostle John was any eye witness, having seen His glory, His miracles, His teachings, and His resurrection, finally understood that He must have to suffer and die and be raised on the third day to justify us before God.  There was no Plan B.  It was this way or no way.  He had to dwell in the flesh to keep the Law to perfection since we could not.  He did for us what we could not do for ourselves. This is why He is “full of grace and truth.”

Conclusion

I pray you have put your trust in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.   If that has not happened yet, my friend, you are in real danger of hell fire. And I mean, in immediate danger.  You’re one breath, one heartbeat…one accident away from eternity when it will be too late to repent.  Today is the best day to believe (2 Cor 6:2) since tomorrow is no guarantee.  If Jesus Christ came today, here is your fate (Matt 7:21-23).  This is why I plead with you as you read this, repent today…and I mean right now.  Put your trust in Jesus Christ.  If you do not, you will face God’s judgment after death guaranteed (Heb 9:27) or at Jesus Christ’s appearance (Rev 20:12-15), which could happen at any moment.
