5 Reasons The Bible Is A Book Of Hope

“I’ve read the last page of the Bible. It’s all going to turn out all right.”

– Billy Graham

Death is no More

The Bible tells us that someday, perhaps soon (?), God “will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away” (Rev 21:4) and The last enemy to be destroyed is death” (1st Cor 15:26). It will be the death of death someday because “God raised [Jesus] up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it” (Acts 2:24).

Sin is no More

After Christ returns for His bride, the church, we will enter the New Jerusalem and “there shall in no wise enter into it anything unclean, or he that makes an abomination and a lie: but only they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life” (Rev 21:27). Imagine not having the urge, desire, or ability to sin anymore? Don’t you grow weary of sin in your own life? I know I do. I just hate the sin that creeps into my life and I then abhor myself for a time but someday, again perhaps soon, sin will be no more.

The Crooked is no More

Isaiah writes more about the Day of the Lord than any other author in the Bible and he writes that someday, “Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain” (Isaiah 40:4). Luke quotes Isaiah writing, “Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth” (Luke 3:5). The crooked made straight reminds me a bit of politicians…someday they’ll all be straightened out!

Injustice is no More

I am an author and even though I don’t sell many books, I have had people steal them from other people who bought the eBooks and then either sell them or give them away free on their website. Still others copy my articles and put their names on them. They claim to be Christians but to steal without remorse and even after I contacted them, one wonders about whether they truly are. I contacted them several times but I got no response so I must trust God to ensure that justice will be executed. Yes, I could hire an attorney but instead I believe what Paul wrote in Romans 12:9 is true; “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” Even in the Old Testament God commanded Israel “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD” (Lev 19:18). It never turns out well when we take justice into our own hands and seek revenge.

Heaven is all the More

We sometimes forget just how awesome and amazing heaven will be and living in the here and now we sometimes don’t think about heaven but heaven is just as real as God Himself is. Someday we will see with our own eyes “a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more” (Rev 21:1) and we will also see “the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life” (Rev 22:1-2) and never again “will there be anything accursed” (Rev 22:3).

Conclusion

Have you, like Billy Graham, jumped to the end of the Bible and read “we win?” The Bible is certainly a book of hope for us because we know that death will be no more; sin will be no more; the crooked paths will be no more; injustice will be no more; and heaven will be all too real!
