4 Ways To Recognize A Closed Door And An Open Window

“When God closes a door, He always opens a window.”

– Woodrow Kroll

A Window of Time

Have you heard the saying, “Timing is everything?” I believe there is some truth to that, especially if you believe in the sovereignty of God. God’s aware of even a tiny sparrow falling, and He isn’t caught off guard by it, so God may have you pass by a door that’s closed, but only so you’ll see the window right next to it. If you see that a window of time opens up for you, and comes at just the right time and at the right place, you might be finding the will of God.

A Window of Opportunity

I have seen opportunities literally dropped into people’s laps, and that shouldn’t surprise me, because I know that God arranges windows of time just as He does windows of opportunity. We might think its perfect timing, but God had planned for us to do good works long before we even existed (Eph 2:10). The only question is will we walk in them when the time and opportunity comes?

A Window of Provisions

I believe God will send provisions for any window or door that opens and any opportunity that comes along. God will never ask us to do something without providing the means to do it. Again, I’ve seen and read about some very amazing experiences where God provided for different ministries in miraculous ways. I suggest you look up the story of George Mueller, who rescued thousands of orphans and never once asked for money! Incredibly, God sent His provisions just when they were needed.

A Window of Heaven

Ultimately, any windows of opportunities that come up must be for the glory of God. This such as ministry to the orphans and widows (James 1:27), and visiting the sick and those in prison, those who are hunger and thirsty (the poor), and making strangers feel welcome (Matt 25:34-39). As far as Jesus is concerned, “as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me” (Matt 25:40).

Conclusion

Pray about an open or closed door or window before you do anything. It may be that God wants you to see a closed door so that you’ll recognize a window of opportunity, and to see it during a certain window of time, and if it’s right, God will provide the provisions for helping you do that, which is really doing it for Christ.
