When you have Everything
When you have everything you will ever need, it would be harder to need God. But when you have nothing else but Christ, you find Christ is all you need. Christ fills what nothing else can. He brings us peace with God and joy as we look toward the kingdom (Rev 21:4). Then, everything we have today will see like so much rubbish.
When you have Nothing
I remember reading about a man who was a former Muslim who converted to Christianity, and as a result, he lost his job, his home, and even his family disowned him. There he was living in the streets and having to survive on what he found to eat, but when someone asked him about losing everything, he said, “I found that when I lost all I had, that all I needed was Jesus.” When all you have is nothing, then Christ is all you need.
No Substitute
There is no substitute for Jesus Christ. Not possessions, wealth, influence, or power. It will all come to nothing, but for those who trust in Christ, they may not even realize it yet, but they have everything and that “everything” will come in the kingdom, where there will be no more want or need, because we’ll have all we need with Christ right there with us.
No Limits
Today, we are limited by time, space, energy, and finances, but in the kingdom, no one will know hunger. No one will know thirst, and there will be no limits of any basic need in the kingdom. Even better, there will be no more sorrow, pain, suffering, and even death (Rev 21:4).
Conclusion
Jesus Christ is everything. In fact, nothing compares to Him. Not all of the wealth in the world can satisfy because when you have nothing, you still have all you need, and that is Jesus Christ, Who gave His life as a ransom for us (Mark 10:45). What more could we need?
