The Redeemer
The Book of Job might be the oldest book in the Bible, but even that long ago, Job didn’t have to guess as to whether he’d be raised to life after death. Job says four very important things; “For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth” (Job 10:25). Job was certain his Redeemer lived. Notice it is a proper noun, or a person, and that is Jesus Christ our, so Job knew his Redeemer lived. Next, he realizes he needs a Redeemer, and in fact, has one, so Job sees his need for a Redeemer but also recognizes that God is the Redeemer.
Job Believed
Job knows He has a Redeemer, and that His Redeemer lives, but also that “he will stand upon the earth” (Job 10:25b), which is true, because Jesus is coming to judge the world in righteousness. He was certain that “after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God” (Job 19:26). Job is saying, Jesus will come to a literal earth, and even after Job’s flesh is destroyed in the grace, in his “flesh [he] shall see God,” and so too will all who trust in Christ.
Jesus Defeats Death
Jesus’ body could not stay dead. Why? Because the wages of sin is death (Rom 6:23), and Jesus never sinned. He took upon Himself our sin, yet He Himself was without sin. That’s why the grave couldn’t hold Him. That’s why the Scriptures say “God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it” (Acts 2:24). You too, if you believe, will see God, even after death (John 10:25-26).

If you want to know about the resurrection, I suggest 1st Corinthians 15. It’s full of biblical details about our resurrection after death. Of course if Jesus comes back before then, you’ll never taste death, but even if you do, Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this” (John 11:25-26). Do you believe that we too will be raised?
Conclusion
Jesus and Job tell us some very important things. We know that the Redeemer lives, we know we’ll see the Redeemer someday (Rev 21:3; 22:4). We also know we need redemption, however the Bible says that Jesus conquered the grave, and if we believe in Him, we will be raised to eternal life and the grave can’t hold us either!
