Physical Seal
I love the idea of having a wedding ring. It sort of “seals the deal” with the person you marry and can be seen as an outward promise to always love them, but it also tells the world, “this man/woman is bound to someone.” It is an outward symbol of an inward promise. God had made a similar promise to never leave us or forsake us (Heb 13:5).
Emotional Seal
Love is something you can’t examine in a test tube, you can’t cut it open to see it, and you can’t put it on scales to see how much it weighs, but love is more real than just a physical substance. People have done all sorts of things out of love, but of course the greatest act of the love was displayed by God in Jesus Christ dying on the cross. That death of His has sealed our eternity with God.
Spiritual Seal
The Apostle’s Paul statement writes about our being sealed by God, by telling the church, “when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory” (Eph 1:13-14). The seal of a king cannot be opened or it is death; but the seal of God can never be broken, even by death!
Conclusion
Even though Solomon was referring to a romantic relationship with a spouse in Solomon 8, I want you to realize that God has set His seal on you, providing for your physical needs, your emotional needs, and your spiritual needs, and what God has set His seal upon, is as good as done.
