3 Reasons We Can Trust God

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

– Romans 8:28

All Things

The Bible clearly states that everything that happens to us will work out for our very best….and yes, even the bad things. Whatever happens is designed to work out for our very best, no matter what it looks like (Rom 8:28), and this life is no comparison to the life to come (Rom 8:18), so let’s stand fast and hold on in this life because even evil done to us works out for God’s glory and our best (Gen 50:20).

For Those Who Love Him

If you have trusted in Christ, you love God, but we have to realize that God loved us first. We don’t have the ability to love God because we were dead in our sins (Eph 2:1), and dead people can’t love, but the Apostle John wrote, “We love because he first loved us” (1st John 4:19), so clearly God made the first move. Imagine Jesus trying to get dead Lazarus to love Jesus while he was still dead. Impossible…but not for God.

Called for His Purpose

The 8th chapter of the Book of Roman’s is one of the most beautifully reassuring chapters in the Bible. Here is what I call the “golden chain” of salvation, where the Apostle Paul writes, “these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified” (Rom 8:30), and please notice that it’s all about “He” and not about me….so God deserves the credit for our salvation…100%!

Conclusion

God’s grace is exceeding and infinitely amazing and cannot really be described by words, but we know we can trust God with everything that happens to us; we can trust God because He loved us first; and we can know God has called us according to His purpose and not ours…those are three powerful reasons to trust God…even in our dark nights of the soul.
