No Excuse

Scripture gives us no wiggle room for not believing in God.  The Word says, “For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened”(Romans 1:25).  You can know someone exists and still not honor them, but that’s what the unbelieving world does to God, but let’s remember, at one that, that was us!  We cannot have a prideful heart, for there we go but for the grace of God.

He Spoke

Most of us can speak, but speak things into existence?  Most of us can’t command something to be, and all of us can’t just speak a word and something pops into existence, but God can, “For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm” (Psalm 33:9). In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth, and only had to speak it into existence.  A creation demands there must be a Creator, and there is a Creator…the One Who spoke and things came into being.

The Natural Mind

We were all like the Prodigal Son before we were saved.  We were lost and then we were found; blind but made to see.  If not for the sovereign act of God (John 6:44), none of us would have come to trust in Christ.  That’s because “The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned” (1 Corinthians 2:14).

God’s Handiwork

When you look at a painting or sculpture, you admire the handiwork of the artist.  You know there must be an artist because you can see their painting or sculpture, so in this same thinking, “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.  Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge” (Psalm 19:1-2). It’s like the creation demands there be a Creator because it has His divine fingerprints on it.

Plainly Seen

I can understand why more astronomers believe in God than other scientists from different disciplines.  Just looking into the heavens you have to realize there’s more to life than just us.  This universe was no accident. The Apostle Paul wrote that “what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse” (Romans 1:19-20).  It cannot be any plainer that there must be a Designer…an Intelligent Designer…it must be God.
