3 Potent Things That Prayer Can Do

“Prayer can do anything that God can do.”

– R.A. Torrey

Unlimited Resources

God, as Creator, is sole property owner of everything that exists but He still allows us to have many blessings from His hand. The psalmist declares God saying that “every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills” (Psalm 50:10). The thousand hills are figurative because He owns all the cattle on all the hills plus those in the valley and all creatures, great and small and even owns the hills themselves. God is not like us in that He is not “served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything” (Acts 17:25). Pray to the titleholder of the universe and don’t limit your prayers for the unlimited resources of an unlimited God.

Unlimited Power

All God had to do was to speak and the universe came into existence (Gen 1:1), “For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm” (Psalm 33:9). So ask yourself this question, “Who has spoken and it came to pass, unless the Lord has commanded it” (Lam 3:37)? Obviously no one besides God for there is none other besides Him (Isaiah 44:6; 45:5). Do we really believe that prayer can do anything that God can do? How would our prayers be altered if we really believed that?

Unlimited God

Jesus is called the “Alpha and the Omega” (Rev 22:13) meaning that, like our dictionary, He’s everything from A to Z. What does that mean? Every word is composed of letters and so He is the consummate of all knowledge, from A to Z, and He is the “first and the last, the beginning and the end” (Rev 22:13) and is without beginning or will be without end. God is not restricted to a time and a place but He is unrestricted and can do all that He pleases to do. He is unlimited in power (omnipresent), in knowledge (omniscient), and in space (omnipresent) so we pray to a God that has no limitations and so if we know for sure it’s God’s will, pray big for we have a big God!

Conclusion

Of course above all things, we should be praying for God’s will (Matt 6:10) because God will never do anything contrary to His will and so we must make sure that whatever we pray for is something that God would want as well and especially if it’s for Jesus’ glory so tap into His unlimited resources and His unlimited power from an unlimited God.
