“I’m a little pencil in the hand of a writing God, who is sending a love letter to the world.”

Devotional: 5 Ways to let God Use your Life to Reach More People

One of the responsibilities you take on when you accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour is the Great Commission. The Great Commission says now that you’ve heard of him, now that you have accepted him go out to all the world and spread the good news. Well, spreading the Gospel isn’t as elaborate or dramatic as getting on a plane and becoming a missionary or learning a new language to go to the other side of the planet. It doesn’t have to be that grandiose. In fact, your personal Great Commission can be just living your life the way God intends you to and letting your life reach more people. When people see how you live your life, they can see Christ in you, and through you Christ can enter their lives. Here are five ways to let God use your life to reach more people.

Reflect God’s joy

Real Christians are joyful. By joyful I’m not talking about happiness. Happiness is temporary. Happiness often depends on the circumstances around you. I’m talking about joy. Joy is the ability to feel good even when everything is falling apart. You feel good not because you get your happiness and enjoyment from the things outside of you. In fact, it’s the complete opposite. You get your joy from what’s inside of you, which is God. When you reflect God’s joy because you accept Jesus, people will be attracted to you because they want that joy. They’ve tried happiness. Happiness doesn’t last. Happiness often leads to disappointment. People are thirsty for real joy. Be that example.

Reflect God’s Faithfulness

In this modern world, part of the reason why things are unhappy and messed up is because people don’t keep their word. If people see that you always pull through and that you always keep your promises, they will have a high view of you because you stand out. But the more they know you, the more they realize that this comes from the fact that you are reflecting God’s faithfulness. This can be quite attractive because in the kingdom of the blind, the one eyed man is king. In a world where people don’t keep their word the person who always pulls through shines forth like a bright light. Be that light.

Reflect God’s forgiveness

We live in a very troubled world because people have pretty much forgotten how to forgive. We say we forgive, but deep down we don’t really forgive. It’s rare to find somebody who not just forgives but forgets. If you reflect God’s forgiveness in you, you stand out and this is a powerful testimony of the kind of forgiveness and peace that Christ can bring to people’s lives. Be that bridge of forgiveness.

Pray for People Who Hurt You

On your own time, and on your own space when you pray for people who hurt you or insult you, you become more at peace with them. When people see that you don’t hang on to bitterness they will be curious as to how you are able to do that. And this will open up the opportunity for you to introduce Christ to them.

Lead Others to Christ with Action, not Words

People would rather see someone than hear one. There are all sorts of preachers and churches talking about the Bible, but at the end of the day it’s actions that count. If they see your life as a living Bible, live your life in full obedience and most importantly, giving love to others you will draw people to Jesus.
