Written by Pastor Jack Wellman– Proverbs 31:28
She has Compassion
A godly woman carries herself like Ruth did…she was humble, yet worked diligently, and she was submissive, just as Jesus submitted to the Father, but she also “puts her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle” (Prov 31:19), and “She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy” (Prov 31:20).
She has Dignity
The Bible also says of a virtuous or godly woman, her “Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come” (Prov 31:25), so she carries herself with dignity and isn’t concerned about what’s coming tomorrow. Her trust is in God.
She has Wisdom
When a godly woman speaks, many people listen, because “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue” (Prov 31:26), so she shows her love by our words and teachings these things to her children who will be most blessed by it.
She has Fruit
When I say that a godly woman is fruitful, I don’t mean she bears a lot of children. In the context of Proverbs 31, her husband celebrates the “the fruit of her hands” as she works diligently for her family (Prov 31:31a) and because of that, “Her children rise up and call her blessed” (Prov 31:28a).
Conclusion
If you have a godly wife or mother, thank God for her, but thank her too because you are blessed and so are her children, because she knows “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised” (Prov 31:30).
