3 Ways Jesus Brought Us Peace

“The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

– Isaiah 53:5

Taking God’s Wrath

Presently, those who reject Jesus, He Himself says, “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life [but] whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him” (John 3:36). God is a God of love but His love is a holy, righteous love and whoever does not embrace Jesus, the Son of God, has God’s wrath remaining on them. Why not believe and have God’s wrath removed and accept the fact that God placed His wrath upon the Son for our sake, so that we wouldn’t have to bear it for eternity?

Removing our Wrath

The Apostle Paul makes it clear that “the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth” since “what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse” (Rom 1:19-20). God doesn’t desire that for anyone (2nd Pet 3:9).

Access to the Father

Paul tells us that it is by Jesus that “we both have access in one Spirit to the Father” (Eph 2:18) “in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him” (Eph 3:12). How is this possible? Again, Paul writes that it is “Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God” (Rom 5:2). No one has access to the Father except through Jesus (John 6:44).

Conclusion

For every child of God that has put their trust in Christ, they “have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom 5:1) and now there’s no more condemnation (Rom 8:1), even though we all deserved it. Jesus took the wrath He didn’t deserve so that we who did deserve it would be spared the righteous wrath of God because “The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by his wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). No one can have the peace of God until they have made peace with God and that only comes through Jesus Christ.
