Devotional: 5 Reasons You Should Trust in God’s Love

There are many ways to describe God. There are many parts of his essence, but if there is one overall description of God that truly gets into his character it would be this: God is Love. This description of God can’t help but make every Christian grow in trust because if we truly believe that God is love, it opens a whole new world to us. It transforms us. In fact, the true definition of a Christian is somebody who truly believes in this description of God and lets it transform him or her. Here are the five reasons why you should trust in God’s love:

It’s Free

The Bible is clear that God’s love is free. It’s not something you work for. It’s not something that you have to be a good person so access. In fact, according to Ephesians, God died for us and gave his son to us even though we were still his enemies. Obviously, an enemy can’t earn love, but God gave it anyway. It’s God’s free gift.

It Never Runs Out

The Bible is full of stories of God continuing to love and continuing to be gracious even though people don’t deserve it. And it never runs out. God could have ended humanity’s history shortly after the fall, but he let us continue. That’s how much God loves us and it shows how patient God is with us.

It’s Always Present if You Look for It

Even if bad things are happening to you and you are going through challenges, if you look at your situation with the eyes of faith you would realize that God’s love is always present. And the fact that bad things haven’t happened is proof of that fact. God’s love is always present. You just have to trust him enough to look for it. If you look for it you will find it.

It Fuels God’s Grace

Why is it that God doesn’t choose to destroy us when we sin? Why is it that God, instead of giving us what we deserve, chose instead to give his only begotten son so that through him we would be saved and be reconciled with Hom? The reason of course is because of God’s love. God’s love is what fuels grace. God’s love is what fuels God’s patience. God’s love is what fuels God’s attitude towards us, which is that of a kind, understanding, and loving father that will continue to wait until the very end. It transforms God’s grace in which, if we access through faith transforms us in return.

It is our Only Hope

If you look at the fact that you can’t earn God’s love and that no person truly deserves God’s love you realize that God’s love is our only hope, otherwise we’re completely lost. Thank God for his love.
