5 Ways To Reveal The Bible

“You are the only Bible some unbelievers will ever read”

– John MacArthur

Be His Hands

I think the church is called the “Body of Christ” because we are carrying on the work of Christ here on earth while He directs the church from heaven. He is the Head and we are the Body, so our hands must be doing what Jesus’ hands did while He was on earth and He touched a lot of people. If people see Him in us, they might think about Jesus.

Be His Feet

I like the words “Christ followers” over the word Christian because to be a Christ follower you must go where He went and He went all over Judea during His earthly ministry. It’s hard to say how many miles He walked. Some estimate it was over three thousand miles, but the point is we too must be going to places outside of our comfort zone and bring tidings of the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Be His Voice

The Apostle Paul knew that people must hear the good news before they can respond to the good news. Paul asked, “How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching” (Rom 10:14)? Will that be your voice they hear it from?

Be His Ears

If you want to get people’s attention, sit down and listen to them. Try to talk half as much as they do and you might see them open up! If we take the time to listen about other people’s lives, we might open a door to share the gospel. Sometimes people have no one to share their burdens with, so maybe you can introduce them to the One Who says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matt 11:28).

Have His Heart

Whatever breaks God’s heart should also break our heart, and remember Jesus wept over the state of the Jews, as Luke writes that “when he drew near and saw the city, he wept over it” (Luke 19:41), and being grieved over the city, He says, “Would that you, even you, had known on this day the things that make for peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes” (Luke 19:42). If we have a heart for the lost we should also have a heart for the hungry, the poor, the prisoners, the widows, the orphans (James 1:27), the strangers, and those in the hospital and in nursing homes (Matt 25:34-40).

Conclusion

It isn’t rocket science. In our desire to bring others to Christ, we must remember that they haven’t accessed the power of the gospel that is found in the Bible (Rom 1:16; 1st Cor 1:18), and since most will never pick up a Bible, why not let them read the Bible by looking at your life and seeing how you are the hands, feet, voice, ears, and heart of Jesus Christ.
