4 Reasons You Can’t Outgive God

“It is beyond the realm of possibilities that one has the ability to outgive God.”

– Charles Spurgeon

He Owns it All

The Bible clearly says that God owns the cattle on a thousand hills. However, He also owns the hills; and being the Creator of everything, He has every right to it because He holds the deed. Don’t think God can’t provide the resources you need, even if it seems like it’ll be at the last second. You and I “were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body” (1 Corinthians 6:20).

He Directs the Heart

If you give, you will be blessed. That’s what the Bible teaches. But God often directs others to give to you or to those around you. God blesses us and others, but He uses people as a means to do so. God won’t float dollar bills out of heaven, but He will do whatever is necessary and through whomever He chooses to bless those who are blessing others by their giving. Proverbs 21:1 says, “The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will,” even if the king doesn’t know about it.

He Provisions His Purpose

I hear from missionaries around the world. They have never once asked me for money, although our church supports those whom we can. I think they’ve already learned that whatever God has called them to do, God will provide a way. If you are thinking about starting a ministry, ask God to provide the means for it because God will not call someone to a ministry unless He also provides the means for that ministry.

He Gave the Most

There is no way we can ever outgive God, and this is most apparent when Jesus came to suffer and die for those who deserved to suffer and die. That means us! Who else would give their life so that others might live? Who else’s life is worth all the souls God will redeem? What is more precious than the blood of the Lamb of God?

Conclusion

It’s simply a matter of cause and effect. If you give, “it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you” (Luke 6:38). So the “Prince of Preachers” is right: “It is beyond the realm of possibilities that one has the ability to outgive God.”
