3 Things This Verse Says About Jesus

“I am the way and the truth and the life.”

– John 14:6

He Is the Way

When Thomas asked Jesus, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” the Lord replied, “I am the way,” showing that He is the one and only way to the Father in heaven (John 6:44), which was where Jesus was going. The point is, there is no other way to be saved than through Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). He is not one of many ways. He is not one of several ways. He is the only way. Just be thankful there is a way.

The Truth

When the Apostle John wrote about Jesus, he described Him as being “full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). “Grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:17), and that’s why we call it “amazing grace.” This grace comes only through the truth spoken by Christ and recorded in Scripture by the Holy Spirit. Sometimes we find out later that we were wrong, but not so with the Word of God. God’s truth is objective, meaning it’s always true.

The Life

Jesus is the Author of Life (Acts 3:15). But He can also say, “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand” (John 10:28-29), so “whoever believes has eternal life” (John 6:47).

Conclusion

When Jesus said “I am the way and the truth and the life,” (John 14:6), we should be thankful that there is a way to the Father and that the truth of the Bible shows us what we must do (Mark 1:15) but also that there is life found in none other than Jesus Christ.
